Replatforming & Migration to Shopify in Denver

Magento, WooCommerce or BigCommerce to Shopify — with your model-year archive, review equity and every ranking URL carried across.

Delivered remotely for brands across Denver and Colorado.

Why Denver brands come to us for this

  • Model-year and discontinued-SKU archive gets a documented decision each, not a blanket homepage redirect.
  • Review equity migrated where platform terms allow, with collection started immediately where they do not.
  • Wholesale accounts, price lists and open pre-book commitments reconciled before cutover, not after.
  • Cutover scheduled in your shoulder season and outside the winter ordering ramp — never in a Colorado Q4.
  • Sixty days of daily crawl monitoring afterwards, benchmarked against pre-migration organic revenue.

Colorado brands carry unusually long URL histories. Ten seasons of model-year product pages, a decade of trip reports and technique articles, a review corpus attached to SKUs that were discontinued three winters ago. That archive is quietly doing a lot of your organic work. It is also the exact thing a careless migration turns into four thousand silent 404s.

Which is why the first month of a migration here looks more like accounting than design. We reconstruct the old site's full indexed footprint and give every URL a decided destination, signed off before anyone touches DNS — gear brands accumulate years of buyer guides, review content and discontinued-model pages, and those are exactly the URLs a lazy migration points at the homepage. Then the product data itself: spec tables, size and fit metafields, wholesale price lists and warranty records get rehearsed into staging repeatedly, until the differences report on prices, inventory, customer tags and metafields comes back empty.

The Denver-specific complications are usually two: a wholesale side living in a second system that has to be reconciled before cutover, and a review-and-content layer that is worth more than the catalogue. We plan for both in the audit rather than discovering them in week nine.

The model-year archive problem

Gear catalogues do not retire cleanly. A 2019 ski, a 2021 frameset and a discontinued shell jacket each still pull search traffic, still hold reviews, and are still being bought secondhand by people who land on your page for spec confirmation. Most Front Range brands have hundreds of these and no policy for them, so a replatform either drops them entirely or clones them into thin duplicates that dilute the current season. We make a documented decision per model-year group before migration: keep and consolidate, redirect to the current equivalent, or archive with a clear successor link. Getting this right is the difference between an organic dip that recovers in three weeks and one that never does — and it is the single most common thing agencies skip on a Colorado catalogue.

Scope

What Migrate to Shopify includes

The same standard of work we run for every client — applied to a Denver brand’s realities.

Full service detail
01

Migration Audit & Data Map

Field-by-field mapping of products, variants, customers, orders, blogs and metafields from source to Shopify, with a documented plan for everything that has no equivalent.

02

Full URL Inventory & Redirect Map

Every indexed URL pulled from Search Console, Ahrefs and server logs, then mapped one-to-one. Anything without a target gets a decision, not a homepage redirect.

03

Catalogue Cleanup

Deduplication, variant restructuring, image renaming and metafield normalisation. Most brands cut 15-30% of their SKU count in this step and lose nothing.

04

Dry-Run Migrations

At least two full rehearsals into a staging store with an automated delta report on record counts, prices, inventory and customer tags before anyone approves the real one.

05

Integration Rebuild

ERP, 3PL, ESP, reviews, loyalty, subscriptions and tax reconnected and tested against real orders in staging. Nothing gets reconnected on launch night.

06

Post-Launch SEO Watch

Sixty days of daily crawl monitoring, index coverage tracking and 404 alerting, with a weekly report comparing organic sessions and revenue against the pre-migration baseline.

Scoped and quoted for your Denver store

We do not work off a rate card. Every Denver engagement starts with a fixed statement of work — named deliverables, named dates, one number — written after we have looked at your store, not before. If a smaller first step would serve you better, we will say so.

How it runs

From kickoff to results

01

Audit & Feasibility

We inventory your data, integrations, custom logic and organic footprint, then quantify the risk in each. You get a fixed scope and a timeline before committing.

02

Data Mapping & Cleanup

Source-to-target mapping for every field, plus catalogue hygiene work. This is the least glamorous phase and the one that decides whether the project succeeds.

03

Build & Rehearse

Theme build runs in parallel with repeated dry-run migrations. Each rehearsal produces a delta report and a shorter list of exceptions than the last.

04

Cutover

A rehearsed runbook with named owners, timed steps, a freeze window and a documented rollback. Executed at your lowest-traffic hour, not on a Friday.

05

Stabilise & Monitor

Sixty days of crawl monitoring, redirect verification and revenue comparison. We stay until organic is at or above where it started.

Premium Skincare (DTC)

8-figure DTC brand, ~140 SKUs, US + CA · Shopify Plus (migrated from Magento 2)

Magento 2 cost $9k a month in hosting, extensions and emergency dev before a single feature shipped. Mobile LCP sat at 5.4 seconds and mobile converted at less than half the desktop rate across 68% of sessions. The named constraint: 11,412 indexed URLs and a top-3 organic position on their hero category, so a migration that lost rankings would cost more than the platform ever saved.

B2B Wholesale (Janitorial & Packaging Supply)

~$18M/yr wholesale, 6,400 SKUs, 900 trade accounts, US · Shopify Plus with B2B on Shopify (migrated from a custom .NET portal)

Ninety-one percent of orders arrived by phone, email or fax and were rekeyed into the ERP by four full-time staff. Order-entry errors ran at 3.8%, and every one of them meant a redelivery and a credit note. The named constraint: 900 accounts on 47 negotiated price lists with net-30 and net-60 terms. No account could ever see another's pricing, and nothing could break during the fiscal year-end freeze.

Organic back to level in 5 weeks

“Magento to Shopify Plus with 14,000 SKUs and a subscription base we could not afford to break. We took the usual dip for about three weeks and organic was back level by week five — that was the entire ballgame for me. One honest gripe: discovery ran three weeks past the SOW and I had to push to get the revised timeline in writing. Once the build actually started they hit every single date.”

FAQ

Migrate to Shopify in Denver — your questions

It is the whole project, and it is manageable. We inventory every indexed URL including the discontinued and model-year pages, then decide per group whether to keep, consolidate or redirect with a successor link. Magento catalogues also usually carry attribute data that maps to Shopify metafields rather than descriptions, and that remapping is where most of the timeline goes. Ten to sixteen weeks is a fair expectation, longer with B2B or an ERP dependency.

Late spring or early summer for a winter-peak business, and the reverse for a summer category. Never in the run-up to your ordering season, and never on a Friday. We rehearse the runbook with named owners and timed steps, execute in your lowest-traffic hour, and keep a documented rollback live throughout. The date gets chosen around your demand curve, not around our capacity.

They come across as company profiles with assigned price lists, and any open pre-book commitments get reconciled before cutover rather than reconstructed after. This is the phase that surprises people: most brands discover their wholesale system and their storefront disagree about pricing on a meaningful number of accounts. Finding that in staging is uncomfortable. Finding it in production during ordering season is expensive.

Not if the redirect work is done properly. Expect a two to four week dip while Google recrawls, then recovery, and we monitor index coverage daily for sixty days to catch anything that slips. Brands that lose rankings permanently are almost always the ones that never built a full URL inventory in the first place and only mapped their current-season catalogue.

Ten to sixteen weeks for a mid-market catalogue. Magento 2 with heavy customisation, B2B pricing or an ERP dependency runs sixteen to twenty-four. The catalogue cleanup phase drives the timeline far more than the theme build does.

Order history, yes, imported as historical records with line items, fulfilment status and notes intact. Password hashes cannot transfer between platforms for security reasons, so customers set a new password on first login. We handle that with a pre-launch email sequence so it lands as expected.

Subscription contracts migrate to Recharge or Shopify Subscriptions with billing dates, cadence and discounts preserved. We time the cutover between billing cycles and run a reconciliation on the first post-launch charge run. Churn in the first cycle is the metric we watch hardest.
