eCommerce SEO & GEO in Singapore

Organic revenue for Singapore brands ranking in four countries at once, where the same page has to earn a Singapore search and a Malaysian one.

Delivered remotely for brands across Singapore and Singapore.

Grow · Singapore

Why Singapore brands come to us for this

  • hreflang and canonical structure across SG, MY, AU and other Markets URLs, so the right country's page ranks in the right country
  • Keyword research done per country — Singapore, Malaysian and Australian buyers use different words for the same product
  • Collection architecture aimed at considered, comparison-shaped queries rather than head terms the marketplaces already own
  • Festive gifting content built as a recurring asset for Chinese New Year, Hari Raya and Deepavali rather than a one-off blog post
  • GEO work so your ingredient, provenance and comparison content is citable inside AI answers, where more regional research now ends

Search here is unusually competitive relative to the size of the market. A Singapore query for almost any consumer category returns marketplace listings, aggregator content, regional publishers and a handful of brands, and the marketplaces occupy the positions a small store most wants. That does not make SEO a losing game; it changes which pages are worth building. Head terms owned by Shopee and Lazada are rarely the winnable target. The winnable targets are specific, considered, comparison-shaped queries — the ones where a buyer wants to understand a formulation, a roast, a fit or a provenance claim before spending, and where a marketplace tile has nothing useful to say.

The multi-country dimension is where most Singapore stores quietly break. Once Shopify Markets is live you frequently have the same product reachable on several market URLs, and without correct hreflang and canonical handling you are asking Google to choose between near-identical pages in SGD, MYR and AUD. The usual outcome is that the wrong country's page ranks, the buyer sees a currency they do not use, and conversion drops without any obvious cause. Getting the market URL structure, hreflang cluster and canonicals right is unglamorous and it is often the single highest-value technical fix on the site.

Then the Shopify defaults that cost every store sessions regardless of city: products reachable at two URLs, faceted navigation generating crawlable parameter combinations, collection pages shipping with thin titles and no copy, and internal linking that stops at the mega-menu. We clear those, build collection landing pages around how people here actually search, put real schema on products, and write the buying-guide and comparison content that survives being summarised. That last part is now doing double duty, because a growing share of category research in this market ends inside an AI answer rather than on a results page.

Local context

One catalogue, four countries, four search results pages

A Singapore brand's organic footprint is genuinely multi-national from an early stage, and that creates problems a domestic store never faces. Search intent shifts across the causeway — spelling and terminology differ between Singapore and Malaysian English, Australian buyers use different category words entirely, and a query that means one thing in Singapore returns marketplace-dominated results in Indonesia where product discovery often starts inside Shopee or TikTok rather than Google. So we work country by country rather than treating Southeast Asia as one keyword set: separate search-console properties and reporting per market, hreflang tying the market URLs together, per-market title and meta variants where currency or terminology genuinely differs, and content priorities set by where organic can actually beat the marketplace rather than where volume looks biggest. We also build the local-intent pages that do convert well here — stockist and retail partner pages, delivery and returns pages written per market, and festive gifting guides that earn their traffic every Chinese New Year and Hari Raya rather than once.

Collection & Category Architecture

A collection map built from real search demand, including sub-collections for attributes buyers search on: size, material, use case, price band, occasion.

03

Product Page Optimisation

Titles, descriptions, image alts, Product and Offer schema with live price and availability, plus review markup that stays valid as inventory changes.

04

Commercial Content Programme

Buying guides, comparisons and category explainers targeting mid-funnel demand, each linked into the collections they support. No filler blogging.

05

Generative Engine Optimisation

Entity and schema work, clean extractable answers, llms.txt and citation-worthy content so ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews reference your store.

06

Digital PR & Link Acquisition

Targeted outreach for editorial links to collection and guide pages from publications your buyers actually read. No directories, no link farms.

Scoped and quoted for your Singapore store

We do not work off a rate card. Every Singapore engagement starts with a fixed statement of work — named deliverables, named dates, one number — written after we have looked at your store, not before. If a smaller first step would serve you better, we will say so.

How it runs

From kickoff to results

01

Technical Audit

A full crawl plus log-file analysis to find what Googlebot actually sees and where crawl budget is being spent. Findings ranked by revenue impact.

02

Demand Mapping

Keyword research mapped to your catalogue and margin, not to search volume alone. High-volume terms you cannot profitably serve get cut.

03

Fix the Foundation

Technical remediation ships first. There is no point building content on a site that wastes half its crawl budget on filter URLs.

04

Build & Publish

Collection landing pages and commercial content shipped on a fixed monthly cadence, each with internal links planned before it goes live.

05

Measure & Iterate

Monthly reporting on non-branded organic revenue, index coverage and AI citations. Branded queries are excluded from every growth number we show you.

Premium Skincare (DTC)

8-figure DTC brand, ~140 SKUs, US + CA · Shopify Plus (migrated from Magento 2)

Magento 2 cost $9k a month in hosting, extensions and emergency dev before a single feature shipped. Mobile LCP sat at 5.4 seconds and mobile converted at less than half the desktop rate across 68% of sessions. The named constraint: 11,412 indexed URLs and a top-3 organic position on their hero category, so a migration that lost rankings would cost more than the platform ever saved.

Outdoor & Sports Gear

~$7M/yr, 480 SKUs, US + EU via Shopify Markets · Shopify Plus (Shopify Markets, 3 regions)

Paid social carried 81% of revenue and CAC had climbed 44% in eighteen months. Organic sat at 2,100 sessions a month against category competitors doing ten times that, and the EU storefront duplicated the US catalogue with no hreflang at all. The named constraint: three national retailers own the head terms with link profiles this brand could not match in a year, so the plan had to win on query depth instead of authority.

+58% organic revenue YoY

“Honestly I signed for the SEO and the AI-search piece was a footnote in the proposal I skimmed. Then in March our product pages started getting quoted in ChatGPT answers for insulated growler queries, and that traffic showed up in GA4 with real purchase intent attached to it. Organic revenue is up 58% year over year and roughly a fifth of that comes from surfaces that didn't exist when we signed the contract. I still don't fully understand it. I've stopped questioning it.”

FAQ

eCommerce SEO in Singapore — your questions

It will if the hreflang and canonical setup is wrong, which it frequently is out of the box. Correctly configured, the market URLs form a cluster where each version is offered to the right country and none of them compete with each other. Misconfigured, Google picks one at random and buyers land on the wrong currency. It is the first thing we audit on any Singapore store selling across borders.

Not for broad head terms, and chasing them is the most common waste of budget we see here. What you can win is the long tail of considered queries — specific formulations, comparisons, use cases, fit and provenance questions — where a marketplace listing has nothing substantive to offer. Those queries convert better anyway, because the person asking them has already moved past price-first browsing.

For Singapore, Malaysia and Australia, English does the job. For Indonesia and Thailand, English will get you a fraction of the addressable search and translated content becomes genuinely necessary — but it is a real investment in native writing, not a machine translation pass, and it should follow evidence that the market is converting rather than lead it. We would rather see you dominate English-language regional search first.

It rewards the content a marketplace cannot produce. Answer engines cite sources that explain things clearly — ingredient function, sourcing, care instructions, sizing logic, comparison between options — and a Singapore brand with genuine provenance detail has more of that to say than a generic reseller does. We structure that content so it is extractable and attributable, and we track whether your brand and products appear in AI answers for your category questions.

Technical fixes can move impressions inside four to six weeks. New collection pages and content typically need three to six months to rank on commercial terms. Nine months is a fair window to judge the programme on revenue. Anyone quoting thirty days is describing a fluke, not a plan.

Always. Branded queries grow when your paid media grows, so including them inflates SEO numbers for work SEO did not do. Every growth figure we report to you is non-branded, and we show the branded split separately so you can see both.

Generative engine optimisation is making your store citable by AI answer engines. It matters now for research-heavy categories where buyers ask an assistant before they search. The work overlaps heavily with good technical SEO: clean entities, correct schema, extractable answers and content worth citing.
