eCommerce SEO & GEO in Dubai

Ranking in Dubai means competing in two languages, three spellings of your product, and against marketplaces that outrank everyone.

Delivered remotely for brands across Dubai and United Arab Emirates.

Why Dubai brands come to us for this

  • Keyword sets built across Arabic script, Latin transliteration and English, then mapped to a single intent per page
  • Hreflang and market targeting configured properly between the Arabic and English trees and across GCC countries
  • Long-tail and comparison content prioritised where regional marketplaces own the head terms
  • Saudi treated as its own content and targeting problem rather than served by UAE pages
  • Product data structured for AI answers — specification, materials, origin and usage, in both languages

Search here is genuinely bilingual, and it is messier than that description suggests. The same buyer looking for an oud might search in Arabic script, in transliterated Latin — Arabizi, where numerals stand in for letters that have no Latin equivalent — or in English, depending on the device, the moment and the keyboard. Brand and product names get spelled four or five ways. Any keyword set that covers only English is missing a substantial share of the transactional volume, and any set that covers Arabic script but ignores transliteration is missing the mobile half of it.

The structural work is the same discipline as anywhere — collection architecture that matches how the catalogue actually sells, product pages that answer the question rather than repeat the title, Shopify's duplicate URL patterns cleaned up — but the localisation layer sits on top of all of it. Correct hreflang between your Arabic and English trees, market-level signals for the GCC countries you serve, and a decision about whether Saudi gets its own targeted content rather than being served by the UAE pages. It usually should: Saudi search behaves differently and Arabic-first content carries far more weight there than for a Dubai audience that shops comfortably in English.

Then the competitive reality. In the UAE the top of the SERP for most product terms is occupied by large regional marketplaces, and you are not going to outrank them for generic head terms with a category page. What is winnable is the long tail — specific product, specific attribute, specific comparison and use-case queries — plus the brand and category authority content that marketplaces do not produce well. That is also where GEO matters, because AI assistants pull from the sources that answer the question specifically, and a well-structured product page with real specification data is exactly that kind of source.

Local context

Two languages, three spellings, and Saudi as its own problem

The keyword research phase for a Dubai store takes roughly twice as long as a single-language market, and the reason is not translation. It is that each intent needs mapping across Arabic script, Latin transliteration and English, then deduplicated against how your catalogue is actually named, then checked for which variant carries the transactional intent rather than informational. Fragrance is the clearest example: the Arabic term, the transliterated term and the English term can each rank a different set of competitors and imply a different buyer. On top of that sits the GCC question. If Saudi Arabia is a real market for you it needs its own content strategy, its own Arabic emphasis and its own hreflang targeting rather than inheriting the Dubai pages — and it needs product conformity and labelling checked before you promote there, because that is a shipping problem masquerading as an SEO opportunity.

Scoped and quoted for your Dubai store

We do not work off a rate card. Every Dubai engagement starts with a fixed statement of work — named deliverables, named dates, one number — written after we have looked at your store, not before. If a smaller first step would serve you better, we will say so.

How it runs

From kickoff to results

01

Technical Audit

A full crawl plus log-file analysis to find what Googlebot actually sees and where crawl budget is being spent. Findings ranked by revenue impact.

02

Demand Mapping

Keyword research mapped to your catalogue and margin, not to search volume alone. High-volume terms you cannot profitably serve get cut.

03

Fix the Foundation

Technical remediation ships first. There is no point building content on a site that wastes half its crawl budget on filter URLs.

04

Build & Publish

Collection landing pages and commercial content shipped on a fixed monthly cadence, each with internal links planned before it goes live.

05

Measure & Iterate

Monthly reporting on non-branded organic revenue, index coverage and AI citations. Branded queries are excluded from every growth number we show you.

Premium Skincare (DTC)

8-figure DTC brand, ~140 SKUs, US + CA · Shopify Plus (migrated from Magento 2)

Magento 2 cost $9k a month in hosting, extensions and emergency dev before a single feature shipped. Mobile LCP sat at 5.4 seconds and mobile converted at less than half the desktop rate across 68% of sessions. The named constraint: 11,412 indexed URLs and a top-3 organic position on their hero category, so a migration that lost rankings would cost more than the platform ever saved.

Outdoor & Sports Gear

~$7M/yr, 480 SKUs, US + EU via Shopify Markets · Shopify Plus (Shopify Markets, 3 regions)

Paid social carried 81% of revenue and CAC had climbed 44% in eighteen months. Organic sat at 2,100 sessions a month against category competitors doing ten times that, and the EU storefront duplicated the US catalogue with no hreflang at all. The named constraint: three national retailers own the head terms with link profiles this brand could not match in a year, so the plan had to win on query depth instead of authority.

+58% organic revenue YoY

“Honestly I signed for the SEO and the AI-search piece was a footnote in the proposal I skimmed. Then in March our product pages started getting quoted in ChatGPT answers for insulated growler queries, and that traffic showed up in GA4 with real purchase intent attached to it. Organic revenue is up 58% year over year and roughly a fifth of that comes from surfaces that didn't exist when we signed the contract. I still don't fully understand it. I've stopped questioning it.”

FAQ

eCommerce SEO in Dubai — your questions

You need indexable Arabic URLs with their own content, not a client-side translation of the English page. Shopify's translation infrastructure handles this properly when it is set up with distinct URLs and correct hreflang. Where brands go wrong is translating the title and meta description and leaving the body copy, filters and structured data in English — the page then serves an Arabic query with an English answer.

By not fighting where you cannot win. Generic head terms in this market are largely marketplace territory, so the ranking targets become specific product, attribute and comparison queries, plus category authority content that answers questions marketplaces do not. Your brand terms also need defending, because marketplaces bid and rank on them, and losing your own name is the most expensive traffic loss available.

For some categories, clearly yes. A lot of Gulf mobile users type Arabic words in Latin characters, and those queries reach pages only if the terms appear somewhere in your content or your internal search data. We check volume before committing rather than assuming — it varies enormously by category and by how young the buying audience skews — but ignoring it entirely is a decision most brands make by accident.

The principle is the same and the workload doubles. AI assistants surface sources that answer a specific question with structured, verifiable detail, so the same specification depth, FAQ coverage and clean schema markup have to exist on both language trees. Arabic-language answers in particular are drawn from a much thinner pool of well-structured commerce content, which makes it a genuine opportunity rather than a defensive exercise.

Technical fixes can move impressions inside four to six weeks. New collection pages and content typically need three to six months to rank on commercial terms. Nine months is a fair window to judge the programme on revenue. Anyone quoting thirty days is describing a fluke, not a plan.

Always. Branded queries grow when your paid media grows, so including them inflates SEO numbers for work SEO did not do. Every growth figure we report to you is non-branded, and we show the branded split separately so you can see both.

Generative engine optimisation is making your store citable by AI answer engines. It matters now for research-heavy categories where buyers ask an assistant before they search. The work overlaps heavily with good technical SEO: clean entities, correct schema, extractable answers and content worth citing.
