Shopify Agency for Dublin Brands Selling Into the EU and US

Ireland is a small home market attached to two enormous ones. We build Shopify stores that sell into the single market and into the States from one storefront, in euro and in dollars.

Dublin is seven hours ahead of Albuquerque, so our working days meet in your late afternoon and our morning — roughly 4pm to 7pm Irish time. Calls go in that window, deep build work happens after you log off, and anything raised in your morning gets picked up the same day rather than the next one.

The market

What selling online in Dublin actually looks like

Dublin's commerce economy has two very different halves that rarely talk to each other. Grand Canal Dock and the surrounding docklands hold the international tech and payments companies, which is why Ireland has an unusually deep bench of people who understand subscription billing, cross-border payments and data compliance. The other half is the actual product economy: food and drink producers, the distilling and brewing cluster in the Liberties, craft and heritage manufacturers, and the distribution and light-industrial estates out at Ballymount, Park West and around the M50 that move goods for the whole east coast.

The categories where Dublin brands genuinely travel are specific: knitwear and woollens, jewellery and Celtic-heritage goods, whiskey accessories and barware, natural skincare and body care, artisan food and confectionery, and giftware. A very large share of that demand is diaspora demand — Irish-American and Irish-Australian buyers who convert at high rates and pay in their own currency. Meanwhile Dublin is the standard soft landing for US brands entering Europe: an English-speaking country inside the single market with euro pricing, which makes it the natural place to configure an EU market before touching German or French storefronts.

Verticals

Who we build for in Dublin

The categories that dominate Dublin’s commerce economy — and what each one needs from a Shopify build.

01

Knitwear, woollens & heritage apparel

Provenance is the product. Story-led PDPs, sizing help for overseas buyers and honest lead times on made-to-order pieces do the selling.

02

Jewellery & Celtic gifting

Gifting deadlines by destination country, engraving options and delivery-date promises need real logic behind them, not a shipping page disclaimer.

03

Artisan food, confectionery & hampers

Shipping profiles have to encode perishability, restricted destinations and seasonal cut-offs — a hamper is priced like a gift and shipped like a pallet.

04

Whiskey accessories & barware

Age-restricted and alcohol-adjacent selling means destination rules by country, which belongs in market configuration rather than in support tickets.

05

Natural skincare & body care

Subscription refills plus EU cosmetic compliance content, with a US market that needs its own claims language and ingredient naming.

Why us, here

What we do differently for Dublin brands

OSS set up before you trip the threshold, not after

Once EU sales pass €10,000 in a year you owe each destination country its own VAT rate. We get Shopify charging correctly and the reporting clean, so the accountant's job is filing rather than reconstructing.

The UK treated as an export, because it is

Britain is still most Irish brands' second market, and it now needs customs data, commodity codes and a delivered-duty-paid shipping option. We configure it as a separate market rather than leaving it bundled with the EU.

A dollar storefront for the diaspora

American buyers of Irish goods convert well and then get scared off by euro pricing, vague transit times and no US returns answer. Fixing those three things is usually worth more than any additional ad spend.

Premium Skincare (DTC)

8-figure DTC brand, ~140 SKUs, US + CA · Shopify Plus (migrated from Magento 2)

Magento 2 cost $9k a month in hosting, extensions and emergency dev before a single feature shipped. Mobile LCP sat at 5.4 seconds and mobile converted at less than half the desktop rate across 68% of sessions. The named constraint: 11,412 indexed URLs and a top-3 organic position on their hero category, so a migration that lost rankings would cost more than the platform ever saved.

Performance Apparel (DTC)

~$6M/yr DTC, 900+ SKUs across size and colour variants, US · Shopify Plus

Returns ran at 31% and refund cost consumed the entire paid media margin. One size chart image served 40 different fits, and 62% of add-to-carts started on a collection page that never showed variant availability. The named constraint: no new product photography budget, so every fix had to come out of the existing asset library and the review corpus.

FAQ

Working with us from Dublin

No. ConversionEX is in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and we work with Irish clients remotely. We have no Irish entity, no Dublin address and no staff in Ireland. What we do have is a working overlap with your afternoon and a habit of saying so up front.

The One Stop Shop lets you file VAT for all your EU B2C sales through a single Irish return instead of registering in every country you sell to. You need it once your cross-border EU sales exceed €10,000 in a calendar year, and below that you can opt in voluntarily. The Shopify side is straightforward once your registration exists — the failure mode is a store still charging Irish VAT to a Spanish customer six months after the threshold was crossed.

Yes, and it should. Shopify Markets lets you run separate priced markets with their own currencies, rounding rules, shipping rates, tax treatment and even localised content, all from one admin and one inventory pool. Multiple stores mean duplicated catalogues and drift, and they split your analytics for no benefit.

As an export. That means customs documentation, commodity codes, correct country of origin, and ideally a delivered-duty-paid service so the buyer is not asked for money at the door. Ireland also now has far more direct ferry capacity to mainland Europe than it did, which matters for pallet and wholesale freight even though most DTC parcels go by air.

Often, yes — English-language operations, euro pricing and single-market access make it the least complicated first EU market to configure and staff. But do not confuse an entry point with a market: Ireland's five million people will not carry a European revenue target on their own, and the German and French storefronts are still the real prize. Treat Dublin as the bridgehead.
