Marketplace Management in Stockholm

Sweden is one of the few European markets where Amazon arrived late and never took the shelf, which makes the marketplace decision here genuinely open rather than automatic.

Delivered remotely for brands across Stockholm and Sweden.

Why Stockholm brands come to us for this

  • Platform selection argued on your category rather than assumed — Amazon.se, Zalando, CDON, Fyndiq, Tradera and Faire are not interchangeable
  • Swedish listing titles and attributes built around compound search terms, since marketplace search engines match text far more literally than Google does
  • Garment measurements, fit notes and structured attributes treated as a returns-cost lever on channels where the buyer never sees your size guide
  • OSS VAT and EU packaging registrations resolved before inventory moves, because a listing goes live faster than a registration does
  • Structural catalogue work scheduled for the summer, so nothing is being rebuilt while Black Week is running

Amazon opened in Sweden in 2020, into a market that had already built its own online shopping habits, and the result is a marketplace that matters without dominating. That is not the situation a US or German playbook assumes. For a Stockholm brand it means the first question is not how to win on Amazon — it is which shelves your category actually sits on. Zalando is where a great deal of Nordic fashion demand resolves. CDON and Fyndiq — now one group, which makes them one integration decision rather than two — and the second-hand and auction trade on Tradera each own a slice of buying behaviour Amazon has not absorbed. For homeware and design labels with a wholesale side, Faire reaches independent retailers across Europe and North America without a trade fair stand.

Each of those is a different operating model, which is the part that gets underestimated. Zalando's partner arrangement puts you closer to a retail relationship than to a self-serve listing, with its own content specification and returns handling. Amazon is a search engine with an ad auction attached, where a broken variation structure costs more than any bid. Faire is a wholesale catalogue with terms and reorder mechanics rather than a consumer channel. Running four platforms as though they were one feed destination is how a Swedish catalogue ends up half-suppressed and entirely unread.

Underneath all of it sits the strategic point. A marketplace buyer is the platform's customer — you get the order and the fee, and the platform keeps the relationship and the second purchase. We think that trade is usually worth making, because the demand is real and your competitors are already taking it. It stops being worth making when the rented shelf quietly becomes the business. So we run the channel for discovery, keep the repeat purchase on your Shopify store, and set pack sizes, bundles and pricing across channels so the two are not bidding for the same order.

Local context

Marketplace work belongs in July, not in November

The Swedish trading calendar decides when this work can realistically be done. Catalogue rebuilds, variation restructuring, a Zalando content submission or a first Amazon inventory shipment are not tasks you attempt in the week before Black Week — listing changes take time to re-index, new parent structures need reviews to pool, and a suppression in late November costs you the quarter. July is the natural window: the domestic market is on semester, campaign performance is thin anyway, and the account can absorb structural change without anything valuable being at risk. We plan backwards from that, and from the fact that fulfilment lead times into European centres tighten sharply through the autumn. There is a second Swedish specific worth naming. Returns in Nordic apparel run high, and marketplace returns are worse than your own because the buyer never saw your size guide — she saw a platform template. That makes garment measurements, fit notes and structured attribute data a margin decision on these channels rather than a content nicety, and it is the single change that most often turns a Swedish fashion listing from break-even into contribution. Reimbursement claims for units lost or damaged in a fulfilment network are the other quiet recovery, and nobody files them unless it is somebody's job.

What Marketplace Channel includes

The same standard of work we run for every client — applied to a Stockholm brand’s realities.

Full service detail
01

Catalogue & Listing Rebuild

Titles, bullets, backend search terms, variation parentage and category nodes rebuilt across Amazon Seller or Vendor Central, TikTok Shop and Walmart. Suppressions and stranded inventory fixed at the cause, not resubmitted.

02

Brand Registry, A+ & Brand Story

Brand Registry enrolment, A+ and Premium A+ modules, Brand Story and Storefront pages built to each platform's image and copy specs. Produced inside this service because the formats are fixed.

03

Sponsored Products, Brands & Display

Campaigns split by intent and margin band, converting search terms promoted to exact, negatives maintained weekly, and targets set from contribution margin instead of a category average.

04

Fulfilment & Fee Economics

FBA against FBM modelled per SKU on size tier, storage, return rate and reimbursement recovery. Some products should never enter a fulfilment centre, and we name which of yours.

05

TikTok Shop & Creator Seeding

Catalogue sync, listing compliance, sample seeding to affiliates, and live and video commerce, run as a mechanic of this channel rather than as a separate affiliate programme.

06

Channel Strategy & the Route Back

SKU allocation, MAP and pricing alignment, marketplace-only bundles and pack sizes, plus the permitted paths home: package inserts, Brand Registry tools and platform-allowed follow-up.

Scoped and quoted for your Stockholm store

We do not work off a rate card. Every Stockholm engagement starts with a fixed statement of work — named deliverables, named dates, one number — written after we have looked at your store, not before. If a smaller first step would serve you better, we will say so.

How it runs

From kickoff to results

01

Account & Catalogue Audit

Listing quality, suppressions, buy-box history, variation structure, the fee and returns reports and ninety days of search terms. You get the findings whether you hire us or not.

02

Fix the Listings

Parentage, titles, backend terms, imagery and A+ rebuilt before any spend moves. Advertising a listing that converts badly buys traffic for whoever else is in the carousel.

03

Draw the Channel Lines

Which SKUs sell where, at what price, in what pack size, agreed with you in writing. The marketplace should not be bidding against your own store for the same order.

04

Advertise to Margin

Sponsored campaigns rebuilt by intent and margin band, with ACoS and TACoS targets derived from contribution per unit after referral, fulfilment and return costs.

05

Compound & Route Back

Weekly search-term mining, monthly fee and reimbursement review, and the insert and registry mechanics that give a marketplace buyer a reason to reorder on your site.

FAQ

Marketplace Channel in Stockholm — your questions

For some categories, clearly. For others it is a distraction with a fee schedule. Consumables, replenishable goods and mid-priced items with strong search demand tend to work; considered design purchases and anything where the brand experience carries the price mostly do not. What we will not do is open it because it is the obvious name. We model the contribution per unit after referral fee, fulfilment and expected returns first, and if the answer is thin we say so and put the effort into a channel where your category actually lives.

It can be either, and the difference decides who carries the risk. The wholesale route means they buy stock and control the retail price; the partner route means you keep ownership, set the price and handle fulfilment against their service standards. The partner model gives you margin and control, and costs you operational attention — content built to their specification, stock accuracy, and delivery performance measured against thresholds that have consequences. We would rather run one of those properly than both badly.

You need VAT handled correctly, and if you are storing goods in another country you need registration there rather than relying on one-stop filing, which covers distance sales and not local stock. German packaging registration is a legal prerequisite for placing goods on that market and platforms enforce it by suspending listings. None of this is difficult, but it has lead time, and the usual failure is discovering it after a catalogue has been built and a shipment booked.

In writing, mostly, and on a fixed rhythm rather than through messaging. You get a written pass over listing health, buy-box status, search terms and fees on a set cadence, and the live window — the last part of your working day — is kept for decisions rather than status. ConversionEX works from a single office in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There is no Swedish entity, no local team, and we are not going to build a page that implies one.

It can, and that is the failure mode we manage against rather than pretend away. Marketplaces are rented shelf space: the platform owns the shopper, sets the fees and can change both without asking. We use them for the thing they are genuinely good at, which is putting your product in front of people who have never heard of you, then arrange pack sizes, bundles and pricing so the reorder has a reason to happen on your own store.

Not directly, and treat anyone who promises it as a liability. Amazon does not give sellers the buyer's email address, and mining order reports to build a marketing list breaks their terms. The legitimate routes are package inserts offering registration, warranty or a refill incentive, Brand Registry tools such as Customer Engagement and Brand Tailored Promotions that reach your followers inside Amazon, and Buy with Prime on your own storefront where the economics hold. Slower, and it survives an audit.

Google and Meta buy traffic for a store you control. A marketplace is a sales channel with its own search engine, its own ad auction, its own fulfilment network and its own fee schedule. The reporting never reconciles with your Shopify numbers, the failure modes are suppression and buy-box loss rather than creative fatigue, and nothing means anything until the unit economics are modelled after fees.
