Replatforming & Migration to Shopify in Dallas, TX

Move off Magento, WooCommerce or a bolted-on wholesale portal without losing rankings, order history or the price lists your buyers depend on.

Delivered remotely for brands across Dallas and Texas.

Build · Dallas

Why Dallas brands come to us for this

  • Company accounts, negotiated price lists and credit terms migrated intact, not rebuilt from memory
  • Cutover scheduled outside Dallas Market Center weeks and post-market ship windows
  • Full one-to-one redirect map covering gated B2B category URLs, not just product pages
  • Buyer comms sequence so retail accounts arrive at the new reorder flow expecting it
  • Case-pack, minimum and prepack rules re-tested against real orders in staging before cutover

Replatforms fail for two reasons and neither is the theme. Dirty catalogue data, and dropped URLs. Six weeks after launch organic revenue is down, and it takes another month to work out that four thousand legacy product and category URLs are quietly 404ing.

In Dallas there is a third failure mode, and it is the expensive one: the wholesale layer. Most brands here are not migrating a single storefront. They are migrating a consumer site plus a separate B2B portal — often a Magento install with a custom pricing module, sometimes a hosted wholesale app, occasionally a set of gated WooCommerce pages held together with plugins. Company accounts, negotiated price lists, credit terms, case-pack minimums and years of reorder history all have to arrive intact, because a buyer who logs in after cutover and cannot see their price stops ordering and calls your rep.

So we run it as an operations project that happens to have a design deliverable at the end. Search equity is protected the usual way: nothing indexed gets orphaned, and every URL has a decided destination before DNS moves. The Dallas-specific risk sits in the pricing layer — wholesale terms, keystone tiers, per-account price lists and MAP rules that live half in the old platform and half in a spreadsheet on somebody's desktop. Those get reconciled and rehearsed into staging until a delta report on accounts, terms and customer tags comes back empty. Cutover has named owners, a written rollback and a deliberate date: never inside a market week, never the week a season ships.

Local context

Choosing a cutover window in a market-week business

For a Dallas brand the migration calendar is dictated by two things nobody outside the metro thinks about: Dallas Market Center dates and the ship windows that follow them. Cutting over while buyers are placing orders, or while your warehouse is picking a market's worth of allocations, turns a routine two-hour DNS change into a revenue event. We work backwards from your market calendar and your heaviest ship weeks and take the quiet stretch in between. We also stage the buyer side deliberately: wholesale accounts get advance notice, a password-reset sequence and a short walkthrough of the new reorder flow before the consumer site even changes, because a retail buyer confused by a login screen escalates to a human and a consumer just leaves.

Scope

What Migrate to Shopify includes

The same standard of work we run for every client — applied to a Dallas brand’s realities.

Full service detail
01

Migration Audit & Data Map

Field-by-field mapping of products, variants, customers, orders, blogs and metafields from source to Shopify, with a documented plan for everything that has no equivalent.

02

Full URL Inventory & Redirect Map

Every indexed URL pulled from Search Console, Ahrefs and server logs, then mapped one-to-one. Anything without a target gets a decision, not a homepage redirect.

03

Catalogue Cleanup

Deduplication, variant restructuring, image renaming and metafield normalisation. Most brands cut 15-30% of their SKU count in this step and lose nothing.

04

Dry-Run Migrations

At least two full rehearsals into a staging store with an automated delta report on record counts, prices, inventory and customer tags before anyone approves the real one.

05

Integration Rebuild

ERP, 3PL, ESP, reviews, loyalty, subscriptions and tax reconnected and tested against real orders in staging. Nothing gets reconnected on launch night.

06

Post-Launch SEO Watch

Sixty days of daily crawl monitoring, index coverage tracking and 404 alerting, with a weekly report comparing organic sessions and revenue against the pre-migration baseline.

Scoped and quoted for your Dallas store

We do not work off a rate card. Every Dallas engagement starts with a fixed statement of work — named deliverables, named dates, one number — written after we have looked at your store, not before. If a smaller first step would serve you better, we will say so.

How it runs

From kickoff to results

01

Audit & Feasibility

We inventory your data, integrations, custom logic and organic footprint, then quantify the risk in each. You get a fixed scope and a timeline before committing.

02

Data Mapping & Cleanup

Source-to-target mapping for every field, plus catalogue hygiene work. This is the least glamorous phase and the one that decides whether the project succeeds.

03

Build & Rehearse

Theme build runs in parallel with repeated dry-run migrations. Each rehearsal produces a delta report and a shorter list of exceptions than the last.

04

Cutover

A rehearsed runbook with named owners, timed steps, a freeze window and a documented rollback. Executed at your lowest-traffic hour, not on a Friday.

05

Stabilise & Monitor

Sixty days of crawl monitoring, redirect verification and revenue comparison. We stay until organic is at or above where it started.

Premium Skincare (DTC)

8-figure DTC brand, ~140 SKUs, US + CA · Shopify Plus (migrated from Magento 2)

Magento 2 cost $9k a month in hosting, extensions and emergency dev before a single feature shipped. Mobile LCP sat at 5.4 seconds and mobile converted at less than half the desktop rate across 68% of sessions. The named constraint: 11,412 indexed URLs and a top-3 organic position on their hero category, so a migration that lost rankings would cost more than the platform ever saved.

B2B Wholesale (Janitorial & Packaging Supply)

~$18M/yr wholesale, 6,400 SKUs, 900 trade accounts, US · Shopify Plus with B2B on Shopify (migrated from a custom .NET portal)

Ninety-one percent of orders arrived by phone, email or fax and were rekeyed into the ERP by four full-time staff. Order-entry errors ran at 3.8%, and every one of them meant a redelivery and a credit note. The named constraint: 900 accounts on 47 negotiated price lists with net-30 and net-60 terms. No account could ever see another's pricing, and nothing could break during the fiscal year-end freeze.

Organic back to level in 5 weeks

“Magento to Shopify Plus with 14,000 SKUs and a subscription base we could not afford to break. We took the usual dip for about three weeks and organic was back level by week five — that was the entire ballgame for me. One honest gripe: discovery ran three weeks past the SOW and I had to push to get the revised timeline in writing. Once the build actually started they hit every single date.”

FAQ

Migrate to Shopify in Dallas — your questions

That is usually the whole point of the project. Company profiles, per-account price lists, quantity rules and net terms live natively on Shopify Plus, which means one inventory, one catalogue and one admin instead of two systems that disagree. Migrating the portal is more delicate than migrating products, because pricing and terms data has no margin for error, so it gets its own dry-run cycle.

In the trough between markets and after the post-market ship wave has cleared. We look at your last two years of order data to find the genuine low week, then execute at your lowest-traffic hour inside it. Never on a Friday, and never in the run-up to a market when your team has no attention to spare for a launch.

No. Historical orders import with line items, quantities, fulfilment status and notes, which matters more in wholesale than in DTC because reorder is driven off last season's order. Password hashes cannot transfer between platforms for security reasons, so buyers set a new password on first login and we run an advance email sequence so it lands as expected rather than as a surprise.

Ten to sixteen weeks for a mid-market catalogue. A Magento install with a custom B2B pricing module, deep customisation or an ERP dependency runs sixteen to twenty-four. Catalogue cleanup drives the timeline far more than the theme build does, and in this market the price-list reconciliation is usually the longest single task.

Not if the redirect work is done properly. We map every indexed URL one-to-one before cutover and monitor index coverage daily for sixty days after. Expect a two to four week dip while Google recrawls, then recovery. Brands that skip the URL inventory are the ones that lose rankings permanently.

Order history, yes, imported as historical records with line items, fulfilment status and notes intact. Password hashes cannot transfer between platforms for security reasons, so customers set a new password on first login. We handle that with a pre-launch email sequence so it lands as expected.

Subscription contracts migrate to Recharge or Shopify Subscriptions with billing dates, cadence and discounts preserved. We time the cutover between billing cycles and run a reconciliation on the first post-launch charge run. Churn in the first cycle is the metric we watch hardest.
