Grow · Houston

Why Houston brands come to us for this

  • Part-number, cross-reference and spec pages built as first-class indexable templates from structured data
  • Suburb-level intent for Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, Pasadena and Cypress handled without doorway pages
  • Spanish-language storefront indexing done at theme level so filters, cart and transactional email follow
  • Storm-season demand pages built in the off-season, when they still have time to rank
  • GEO work so AI answer engines cite your spec data instead of a competitor's PDF

Search demand in Houston has an unusual shape. Alongside the normal category terms sits an enormous volume of low-competition, high-intent long-tail: manufacturer part numbers, cross-reference lookups, spec queries, compatibility questions. Individually each one is a handful of searches a month. Collectively, for a distributor with a real catalogue, they are the majority of qualified organic traffic and almost nobody optimises for them because they do not show up in a keyword tool's top-100 list.

Layered on top is geography. This metro is a collection of distinct submarkets — Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, Pearland, Pasadena, Cypress — and buyers search that way. A supplier ranking only for 'Houston' terms is invisible to a facilities manager in Baytown searching the way people here actually search. Suburb-level intent is a real and underserved opportunity, and it belongs on hub and service pages, not on 40 doorway pages.

Then there is language. Houston is one of the most linguistically diverse cities in the country, with very large Spanish-speaking and Vietnamese-speaking communities and substantial demand in both. For consumer categories especially, a properly built second-language storefront with its own indexable URLs is one of the few remaining ways to acquire organic traffic your competitors are not even bidding on.

Where Houston organic demand actually lives

Three sources of demand here behave differently from other metros. The industrial long-tail — part numbers, standards, material grades — rewards structured metafields and templated but genuinely data-rich product pages, and it is where AI answer engines increasingly pull spec answers from, so entity and schema work translates directly into citations. The clinical layer around the Texas Medical Center generates a steady stream of product-plus-specification searches from professional buyers who need a source, not an article. And the consumer side is seasonal and weather-driven: searches for generators, pumps, tarps, water storage and roof repair spike hard when a system enters the Gulf, and the stores that rank in those weeks are the ones that built the pages in April, not the ones that publish a blog post while the forecast is on TV.

Scoped and quoted for your Houston store

We do not work off a rate card. Every Houston engagement starts with a fixed statement of work — named deliverables, named dates, one number — written after we have looked at your store, not before. If a smaller first step would serve you better, we will say so.

How it runs

From kickoff to results

01

Technical Audit

A full crawl plus log-file analysis to find what Googlebot actually sees and where crawl budget is being spent. Findings ranked by revenue impact.

02

Demand Mapping

Keyword research mapped to your catalogue and margin, not to search volume alone. High-volume terms you cannot profitably serve get cut.

03

Fix the Foundation

Technical remediation ships first. There is no point building content on a site that wastes half its crawl budget on filter URLs.

04

Build & Publish

Collection landing pages and commercial content shipped on a fixed monthly cadence, each with internal links planned before it goes live.

05

Measure & Iterate

Monthly reporting on non-branded organic revenue, index coverage and AI citations. Branded queries are excluded from every growth number we show you.

Premium Skincare (DTC)

8-figure DTC brand, ~140 SKUs, US + CA · Shopify Plus (migrated from Magento 2)

Magento 2 cost $9k a month in hosting, extensions and emergency dev before a single feature shipped. Mobile LCP sat at 5.4 seconds and mobile converted at less than half the desktop rate across 68% of sessions. The named constraint: 11,412 indexed URLs and a top-3 organic position on their hero category, so a migration that lost rankings would cost more than the platform ever saved.

Outdoor & Sports Gear

~$7M/yr, 480 SKUs, US + EU via Shopify Markets · Shopify Plus (Shopify Markets, 3 regions)

Paid social carried 81% of revenue and CAC had climbed 44% in eighteen months. Organic sat at 2,100 sessions a month against category competitors doing ten times that, and the EU storefront duplicated the US catalogue with no hreflang at all. The named constraint: three national retailers own the head terms with link profiles this brand could not match in a year, so the plan had to win on query depth instead of authority.

+58% organic revenue YoY

“Honestly I signed for the SEO and the AI-search piece was a footnote in the proposal I skimmed. Then in March our product pages started getting quoted in ChatGPT answers for insulated growler queries, and that traffic showed up in GA4 with real purchase intent attached to it. Organic revenue is up 58% year over year and roughly a fifth of that comes from surfaces that didn't exist when we signed the contract. I still don't fully understand it. I've stopped questioning it.”

FAQ

eCommerce SEO in Houston — your questions

No. That is the fastest way to get caught by a scaled-content classifier, and it does not serve the buyer either. Suburb intent is better handled through service-area content on a small number of genuinely useful pages, plus accurate delivery and pickup information. We would rather ship five pages that convert than forty that get deindexed together.

For consumer categories in this metro, usually yes. It has to be done at the theme level so navigation, filters, cart and transactional email all follow, and the content has to read as native rather than machine-translated. A half-translated store often converts worse than an English-only one because it breaks trust mid-funnel.

By making them data-rich rather than word-rich. Specs, compatibility, cross-references, availability and documentation give each page substance that a competitor's PDF cannot match. Where variants genuinely have nothing to differentiate them, we consolidate rather than publish. Volume without substance is what gets penalised now.

Faster than most categories, because the terms are long-tail and thinly contested. A part number, a spec string or a cross-reference query has almost no competition — get the page indexed with correct structured data and it can rank inside six to eight weeks. What takes three to six months is the application and category-level content that captures the buyer who does not yet know the part number, and that is where the margin sits. For an MRO or energy-services catalogue we would expect visible order volume from long-tail pages by the end of quarter one, and would judge the programme on repeat B2B revenue by the end of quarter three.

Technical fixes can move impressions inside four to six weeks. New collection pages and content typically need three to six months to rank on commercial terms. Nine months is a fair window to judge the programme on revenue. Anyone quoting thirty days is describing a fluke, not a plan.

Always. Branded queries grow when your paid media grows, so including them inflates SEO numbers for work SEO did not do. Every growth figure we report to you is non-branded, and we show the branded split separately so you can see both.

Generative engine optimisation is making your store citable by AI answer engines. It matters now for research-heavy categories where buyers ask an assistant before they search. The work overlaps heavily with good technical SEO: clean entities, correct schema, extractable answers and content worth citing.
